We come for beer and stay for the community
My name is Chris Schleif, I started Fermentation Initiative in June of 2017. I would like to extend a special thanks to Tom and Brandon for keeping the doors open in those early years when I was still Armying. I started brewing 5-gallon batches of beer in my garage in 2009. Once my home brew setup grew to a 1bbl system in 2012 I felt like I needed to do something that made it more sustainable from a financial standpoint. A few years later I started Fermentation Initiative to subsidize my brewing habit. I truly enjoy all forms of fermentation from making beer and cider to fermenting hot sauce and vegetables. The best part of this endeavor for me are the people I get to meet every day who want to or have dreamed about making their own fermented products. They are makers, they envision a world with blueberry rhubarb mead in it and make it happen.
